This page contains tips for
callers about how to call Pet
Fish Talk and be a guest on the
show.
1. Your
Call is Free.
Your
call to Pet Fish Talk is toll free
and will not appear on the bill
for the phone you are calling us
from. Our toll free phone number
is 1-877-823-6217.
2.
When to Call Call between 1 and 3
pm, Pacific Time, on Wednesday.
to find out what time it is in
your city, when it's 1:00 PM,
Pacific Time.
3. Your Telephone We
recommend that you call us on a
corded phone. Phones without
cords, including cell phones,
cordless phones, headsets, and
voice over internet (VoIP),
usually do not work well and
produce audio of poor quality.
4. Background Noise
When you hear us answer the phone,
you will be live on the show. We
do not have a call screener to
remind you to eliminate background
noise. So before you call, please turn off your
radio, TV, computer talk shows
including Pet Fish Talk,
and put out the dogs!
5. The Phone is Ringing.
If you call and get a busy signal,
please wait a few minutes and call
us back. Once the phone is ringing
without a busy signal, wait for us
to answer. If your phone is
ringing, we will answer your call,
but it may take us as long as five
minutes.
6. "Hello, this is ..."
We will pick up the phone here and
say, "Welcome to Pet Fish Fish."
You should be ready to say,
"Hello. This is Wally calling from
Sheboygan, Wisconsin." Of course,
you'll substitute your name, city,
and state. You might even want to
write it down, before you call us.
7. Speak up! Hold the
mouthpiece of the phone up to your
mouth. Speak loudly and
distinctly. Do your best to help
us make the show the best it can
be.
8. Your Question or Comment Before you call, try
to think through your question or
comment. Try to keep it brief and
concise without too much
background information. If Tom or Nevin says something like, "What's New?"
Please do not say, "Nuttin' much." Instead say something like, "Something
really interesting happened in my aquarium today ...".
9. Getting Dropped Sometimes we have to end a call or
something happens and a call gets
dropped. Please don't be
disappointed if this happens, and
you don't get an chance to say
everything you wanted to say. Plan
to call back in a couple of weeks
and talk with us again.
10. Listening to Yourself
Please do not try to hear
yourself, while you are talking on
the show. Instead wait a couple of
days for the show to appear in the
archive, which contains links to
all the Pet Fish Talk Shows. Click

to go to the archive now.
