Craig

recently burst, and

Jackie from Tampa,
Florida, calls and
says she has two
Betta Geezers named
Slippery and Splash.
Jackie says that Jim
in West Virginia is
her brother, and
Rebekah is her
niece! Jackie has a
pond in her
backyard with a
plant called
Hydrilla, and she
needs to get some
Triploid Grass Carp
to eat the Hydrilla,
but she must install
a barrier to
cover the culvert
that draining from
her pond, so the
Carps can't escape.
We think that

the barrier to cover
the culvert. Click

Segment
Two.
Ronnie
from Missouri calls
and says, "It's 17
degrees now, and
it's suppose to be 0
degrees tonight."
Tom and Nevin recall
that once long ago
it got very cold in
San Diego. So they
had to cover their
aquariums to keep
them warm. Ronnie
says he heats his
fish room to about
80 degrees. Ronnie
says he prefers to
get his fancy brood
stock Bettas from
Thailand, because
those Bettas are
about twice the size
at the same age.
Tom, Nevin, and
Ronnie all agree
that raising fish in
ponds is more
natural and has the
potential to produce
superior fish.
Ronnie says he gets
about four Betta
spawns a month, and
he gets about 50
baby Betta fish per
spawn. Ronnie says
the Black-Melano
Female Bettas are
infertile, and so to
breed Black Bettas
he has to use ...

Josh says he's set
up a new aquarium
and has been advised
by his local fish
store not to change
any water so the
beneficial bacteria
won't be removed. He
wonders if this is
good advice?
Mike calls and says
he has two ten
gallon aquariums,
and he is setting up
a new 46-gallon
aquarium, but he
wonders if he should
add a Mystery Snail?

about Mystery
Snails. Mike says he
has four goldfish
that hide in a
corner of one of his
10-gallon aquariums.

one of his Goldfish
recently changed

Segment
Three.
Dennis
from Spokane,
Washington, calls
and says we answered
his question last
week, and that
answer forced him to
go buy another
80-gallon aquarium!
We talk about
Dennis' plan to keep
lots of livebearers
including Guppies,
Swordtails, Platies,
and Mollies in one
of the aquariums and
Tetras in the other
aquarium. We also
talk about salting
the water in
aquariums. Click

Tom finishes
answering Josh's
question from
Segment 2 earlier in
today's show.
Rebekah from West
Virginia calls and
Tom tells her that
we talked to her
aunt during Segment
1 of today's show.
Next Rebekah says
her Mystery Snail is
a speedy sprinter
escape-artist. Nevin
says most Mystery
Snails are
escape-artists. We
talk about why
Mystery Snails like
to migrate to other
areas. We talk with
Rebekah again about
her Betta fish that
makes sounds. Tom
talks about mouth
brooding Cichlid
females that make
sounds to
communicate with
their babies.
Segment
Four.
We
continue to talk
with Rebekah from
West Virginia, who
says she listened to
the Pet Fish Talk
Show in the Archive
about using a small
mirror to stimulate
her lazy male Betta
Fish named Jouvence
to build a bubble
nest. We talk about
Betta Fish and
mirrors. Later
Rebekah says she has
so many baby Guppies
now that she can't
count them all, and
having an aquarium
with baby Guppies is
lots of fun. We talk
about having fun
with pet fish in
aquariums, fish
bowls, and ponds.
Vicky from West
Virgina calls, and
we talk about the
new decals she put
on the 5-gallon
aquarium that's her
Betta's home. We
talk about putting
accessories around
and near aquariums
and fish bowls. We
also talk about
feeding Betta Fish.
