First
we quickly summarize last
week's show. Then
...
Allison's planted aquarium has
bearded algae, and
she wants to know
how to get rid of
it? Chinese Algae
Eaters and
Plecostomus Catfish
are not so good for
Allison's planted
aquarium. Tom
and Nevin recommend
two good algae
eaters to eat the
bearded algae. Click
here and
here for more
about these
recommendations.
Joyce says she's
excited about
discovering Pet Fish
Talk. She has a
55-gallon aquarium
with African
Cichlids that have
released babies.
Joyce wonders about
adding a Plecostomus
and a Raphael
Catfish to her
aquarium. Click
here for more
about African
Cichlids.
Ritchie from
Missouri has a new
300-gallon stock
tank. He's added
some Mangrove
Plants, Archers, and
Plecostomus. Ritchie
wants to know if he
can also add some
Pufferfish.
Tom and Nevin talk
about keeping several
Female Bettas
together in an
aquarium. How to
tell they are
females? Nevin says
AquariumFish.net
just got some very
nice Pink Female
Bettas and a few
Yellow Female
Bettas. Tom asks if
he can buy a
Black Betta and
Nevin says ...
Aggie wants to know
how many gallons her
half-whiskey barrel
holds and wonders if
it will be big
enough for a large
Comet Goldfish. Tom
recommends White
Clouds and Dwarf
Gouramis. Nevin says
Paradise Fish will
do great.
Lynn from West
Virginia calls and
says that the show
is coming in good.
Tom says he
heard that Lynn
likes the Pet Fish
Talk music and that
Lynn like Turtles.
Lynn says the
Turtles live in the
front room and
sometimes mistake
her fingers for
food.
Gina wants to know
how a female Convict
Cichlid can find all
of her babies? Tom
and Nevin talk about
how female fish
communicate with
their babies and about
watching
Julidochromis
marlieri tending
their babies.
This is
a picture of a
Julidochromis
marlieri,
sometimes
called a Plaid
Juli, that
lived and
spawned in an
aquarium in
Tom and
Nevin's fish
room a long
time ago.
Christina wants to know the life expectancy of her Dog Faced
Pufferfish, and she also wonders if puffing is stressful to
Pufferfish? Nevin
explains how
Pufferfish puff up.
Lacy has crushed
coral in her
75-gallon freshwater
aquarium containing
Pufferfish, Gold
Fish, and Pictus
Catfish. Lacy
wonders why most of
her fish have died?

information about
how to start a new
aquarium.
Ernesto wants to
know if Pictus
Catfish, Tiger
Barbs, and Rainbow
Sharks are
compatible fish for
his 29-gallon
aquarium?
Adriana says she
feeds her Betta Fish
a lot more than is
recommended on the
food container.
Adriana wonders if
this could harm her
Bettas?
Kira says her female
Molly just released
babies and now that
female is sitting on
the bottom of the
aquarium, rocking
back and forth.
Josh from Ohio calls
and says he can hear
the show on the
internet. Josh also
says for the first
time the water in
his aquarium has
gotten cloudy. Tom
and Nevin give Josh
some tips about why
his water is cloudy
and what to do about
cloudy aquarium
water.
Dennis from Spokane
calls, and we
continue to talk
with him about
cloudy water. Dennis
also talks about all
of his aquariums
spread throughout
his house. Tom and
Nevin talk about the
aquariums they had
long ago scattered
throughout their
parents home.
Tom and Nevin
reminisce about
cleaning out their
parent's basement
long ago and moving
all of their
aquariums into the
basement. Dennis
says he will soon
complete his Masters
Degree, then he
hopes to buy a house
with a large
basement!
We continue to talk
with Dennis from
Spokane about the
basement fish room
with over 100
aquariums where long
ago we began to
spawn several
species of Killie
Fish, Angelfish,
Mbuna Cichlids,
Tanganyika Cichlids,
and many others.
Tom and Nevin still
hope to spawn some
other fish species
like Knifefish and
Pufferfish, and they
remember their first
spawn of Convict
Cichlids and
especially about
looking at Killie
Fish eggs for the
first time!
Dennis says he's
about ready to build
a Brine Shrimp
hatchery. Click
here for
information about
how to do that.
