In
Portland,
Maine,
Restaurant
Owner
gets his
Koi Fish
Back.
A
Freeport
restaurant
owner
said
it's a
great
way to
bring in
the
Chinese
New
Year.
Cuong Ly
will be
traveling
to a
Portsmouth,
N.H.,
pet
store on
Wednesday
to
retrieve
his
prized
koi
fish,
which
were
seized
by Maine
fish and
game
officials
last
summer.
They
were
removed
from a
display
in Ly's
China
Rose
Restaurant.
State
officials
said the
display
violated
a state
law
prohibiting
the
importation
and
possession
of koi.
In
December,
the
state
issued
Ly a
one-year
permit
allowing
him to
retrieve
the koi.
He's
since
been
given
the OK
to put
them on
display.

In
Davie,
Florida,
New
Fish
Species
is
Identified.
U.S.
scientists
say they
have
identified
a new
species
of fish
that
closely
resemble
the
threatened
white
marlin.
Researchers
at Nova
Southeastern
University
in
Davie,
Fla.,
and the
school's
Guy
Harvey
Research
Institute,
say many
fish
believed
to be
white
marlins
might
have
been
round
scale
spearfish,
which
bear a
close
resemblance
to the
white
marlin.
And that
raises
concerns
about
the
remaining
numbers
of the
threatened
white
marlin
species.

KFC Asks
Pope to
Bless
New Fish
Sandwich.
KFC
wants to
help
Catholics
to eat
fish
during
Lent,
and has
even
gone to
the
trouble
of
sending
a letter
straight
to Pope
Benedict
XVI,
asking
him to
bestow
his
Papal
blessing
on its
new KFC
Fish
Snacker.
In its
letter,
mailed
early in
February,
KFC said
the
99-cent
sandwich
"could
make it
easier
and more
affordable
for
Catholics
to
observe
the
tenets
of their
faith."
Observant
Catholics
do not
eat meat
on
Fridays
during
the

which
began
last
Wednesday
and
lasts
until

Sunday.
