Hi Tom and Nevin, this weeks fish in the news started out very slim
but I just kept digging and here is the avalanche of fish in the news.
Your friend, Robert in NJ.
Sorry I didn't send stories in last week, I was very busy. I do, however, have a question: I bought a South American leaf fish, and wondered: what tankmates (other than Corydoras) would be appropriate?
Special thanks, as usual, to Jourdan in Connecticut for emailing us these links.
Callers during this Show
Heather
from Point
Loma
in San
Diego,
California,
calls and
talks about
her trip to
Charleston,
SC, where
she visited
the Tide
Line
Aquarium
Store and
saw some
beautiful
Glow Fish,
which are
Zebra Danios
with a gene
from a sea
urchin that
changes the
color of the
Zebras.
Heather also
visited the
Georgia
Aquarium in
Atlanta,
Georgia,
where she
saw a huge
reef
aquarium.
Heather
reminds
everyone
that there
is a big
show
featuring
aquariums
with live
plants in
Atlanta from
November 14
to 16.
Bonnie
from Iowa
calls and
says her
ponds are
gone, and
the holes
have been
filled with
dirt. But
now she has
a horse
trough in
her new
sunroom,
which is a
big
improvement,
because the
sunroom
covers the
pond and so
there are no
leaves to
remove.
Below are
two pictures
of Bonnie's
new sunroom
pond. Looks
very good to
us!! But we
wonder if
Bonnie saw
that guy in
the hat with
a fishing
pole? Thank
you Bonnie
for calling
during the
show and
sending us
the
pictures,
shown below.
Roshan
from Katy,
Texas,
calls during
the show and talks
about moving
some of his
fish to an
outdoor pond
and about
his
Australian
Rainbow Fish
that are
very nice,
very hardy,
and very
beautiful.
Roshan
recommends
them.
Ed
from
Wheaton,
Illinois,
which is
near Chicago,
calls and
says he fed
his Dwarf
Puffers lots
of Tubifex
worms, maybe
more than he
should have, and
now he
thinks one
has bloat.
Tom and
Nevin
get more
information
from Ed and
conclude
that his
Pufferfish
probably
does not
have bloat.
Then talk
with Ed
about what
to feed his
puffers.
Evan from Colorado says
he recently
bought some
new male
Bettas, and
he's
thinking
about
getting a
school of
Zebra Danios,
then he talks
with Tom and
Nevin about
spawning
Zebras and
raising the
tiny babies.
Click
here to
see the
video of
some of
Evan's
aquariums
that he
mentioned
during his
call. The
video shows
Evan's
freshwater
aquariums,
and he also
has a least
one large
saltwater
aquarium
with live
rock and
saltwater
fish. Click
here for
more about
Evan's
saltwater
aquarium.
