The fish, shown below, ...
are from Tom's second new 55-gallon aquarium, which now contains about 15 Angelfish and 2 Bushy Mouth Plecos. Tom and Nevin encourage you to call during this show or any show and talk about this aquarium or anything else about pet fish.
The catfish, shown in the pictures just above and below, is one of the many species that aquarists call Bushy Mouth Plecos. It is a member of the large genus named Ancistrus. This fish is a male, and most males have fleshy tentacles on their heads and along the edge of their heads. Females have tentacles on the edge of their heads but none on top of their heads.
Here is a picture looking into the mouth of the same Bushy Mouth Plecostomus that was attached to the transparent plastic of the aquarium.
The fish, shown just above, is one of Tom's new Angelfish. There are many varieties of Angelfish. Tom hopes this one is a Golden Pearlscale.
The Angel, shown above, may be a Koi Angel with the orange blotch of color on upper front part of its body.
The fish, shown just above and below, are Marbled Angelfish. The Angel, shown above, has two genes for Marble, and the Angel, shown below, has one gene for Marble. Both of these Angels are also veil tailed, which means they have longer tails. It looks like the Angel, shown above, both has two genes for veil tail, and the Angel below has one gene for veil tail. There is a great deal known about the genetics of Angelfish.
The Angel, shown in the two pictures above, is a Black Angelfish and like the other Angels it is energetic and growing fast.
This Angelfish has shorter fins and perhaps has a gene for "Smokey" and a gene for "Half Black". It is very energetic and a fast swimmer.
