Fish in the News from Robert in New Jersey
Hi Tom & Nevin, here are this week's FITN I will try to add to these before the show very slim picking this past week. Your friend Robert In NJ
Can you believe that Robert in New Jersey apologized for this list of links?
Looks like an avalanche to us, and an avalanche with a few less boulders is still an avalanche!! Big thanks to Robert for sending us all these links.
Silver Angelfish ??
We have been calling this a Silver Veiltail Angelfish, and he is. But with his exciting mixture of colors, he hardly looks silver. Click here for more about Angelfish like this one.
Black Lace Angelfish
This young male is still growing. He is about one year old, and his body is about 3" in diameter. Of course, his fins make him much taller and longer than 3". He is usually more aggressive than the other Angelfish males. Click here for more about Angelfish like this one.
Male Serpae Tetra
This male is one of a group of about 12 Serpaes. They all continue to grow and develop more coloration. They are very energetic and like to congregate near the Ceramic Driftwood Log, shown in the background of this picture. Click here for more about these Ceramic Driftwood Logs. Click here for more about Serpae Tetras.
Male Bushymouth Plecostomus
This fellow doesn't come much anymore. He likes to stay inside his favorite Ceramic Driftwood Log. His coloration has changed recently. Maybe he's ready to spawn? In this picture you can see his omega-eye and the tentacles growing between his eyes and mouth. This is a really wonderful aquarium fish. Highly recommended. Click here for more about this fish.
Female Bushymouth Pleco
This female is growing rapidly too and changing coloration. You can see she has a few very short tentacles around the edge of her mouth, but she does not have the long strange tentacles like the male, shown above.
Clown Loaches
All eight Clown Loaches continue to grow fast and increase in coloration. These too are wonderful aquarium fish. Click here for more about Clown Loaches.
By the way, all of the fish, shown in the pictures above, live in the same 55-gallon aquarium. Yes they are crowded, and must be carefully cared for each day. This would not be recommended to a new aquarist. But it works well here. One of the main factors is the premium food. Click here for more information about premium fish food.
Yet another Picture of Tré
Tré swam down to the other end of his aquarium and watched Tom taking pictures of the fish in the other 55-gallon aquarium. Tré just hovered there and posed for a picture. So Tom turned the camera and snapped this photo. The lighting was not quite right, but Tré is so photogenic that the picture turned out to be pretty good anyway. When Tré was about 1/2" shorter, he was more of a blue color, but now he is lighter and more of a lavender. Is that color lavender? Anyway, he has changed coloration, which is interesting. The small darker dots along his back are very interesting too.
