Nevin with his New DIY Gravel Washer
Nevin made th gravel washer, shown above, from a piece of clear tubing, a white PVC Elbow, a reducer fitting that fit the Elbow and a solid brass female hose fitting, which fits on the end of the green hose.
Nevin putting his new Gravel Washer to Work.
The green hose has a larger inside cross-section than the tubing that comes with most gravel washers and removes water proportionately. Nevin estimates his gravel washer removes the water about twice as fast, so what used to take 10-minutes now takes 5.
Nevin Enjoys Gravel Washing Aquariums.
When Tom heard that, he said, "OK, go right ahead and gravel wash all my aquariums. I'll supervise and take some pictures of you doing it."
Callers during this Show
Reggie in Texas calls and says the ammonia now tests 0.00 in his aquarium, and the nitrite is down to 3. Tom and Nevin talk with Reggie about the water quality in his aquarium. The Reggie asks about the kinds of African Cichlids that he now has in his aquarium.
Brad in Michigan calls and asks about water conditioners to remove chlorine and chloramines. Tom and Nevin final explain what they are doing and what they plan to do soon.
Bonnie in Iowa calls and says the temperature is 8-degrees F. in Iowa. She also has several inches of snow on the walkway to her house and would like Tom come and shovel the snow. Magically just in time to extricate Tom, the shown ends.
The Bailey Brothers encourage YOU to call Pet Fish Talk during the show and talk about your pet fish.
