Weekly Fish ID-Quiz for Fun !!
Each week we post some new pictures here on the Listening
Guide for this week's show, and we leave the names off.
It will be a good exercise for you to try to identify the
item in each picture. Some pictures will probably be easy to
identify, but others will probably be difficult. Tom and
Nevin will identify each picture during the first few
minutes of this show.
http://www.170millionamericans.org/ Dear Tom & Nevin, As someone who grew up watching Sesame Street, Nova, & Nature amongst MANY other wonderful programs which we can actually TRUST to deliver the unvarnished TRUTH about what's happening in the world around us, I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY BEG you and ALL of our fellow Pet Fish Talk Listeners to sign the online petition to congress and also share it with others, urging them NOT to cut off funding for the Corporation For Public Broadcasting. Do not allow republican greed and stinginess to permanently censor what has always been one of the purest sources of information, entertainment, enlightenment, enrichment and education that is by Definition, supposed to be FREE and Accessible to Us ALL about the Natural World around us off the airwaves altogether! Just remember: While the price of Peace and Freedom is Eternal Vigilance, it doesn't do much good if you don't act on it with your Constitutionally Protected and Guaranteed Right to Vote and Make Our Voices Be Heard!
The Online Petition process is VERY swift and simple and WELL WORTH IT! If you love PBS and NPR Programming, stand up to protect it before those who want the TRUTHS about the World We Share can silence them.
Sincerely Yours,
~Brandon in West L.A.
Callers during this Show ;^ }
Robert in Oregon calls and talks about his web site, which you can visit by clicking here.
Robert describes his web site as, "...a freshwater aquaria blog that brings you informative articles and information from a variety of authors/writers who are all respected experts and leading hobbyists." Robert also talks during this Pet Fish Talk Show about the importance of balance among the intensity of the light, the concentration of fertilizers, and the amount of CO2 in a heavily planted aquarium.
Bonnie from Iowa calls and says she's beginning to make plans to move her goldfish from her garage, where she kept them during the icy Iowa winder, back to her backyard pond. She is planning to make a new pond filter. Nevin suggests that she consider the Marineland Tidepool I Bio-wheel Filter. Tom thinks that is a very good idea, but after the show changes his mind and sends Bonnie and email recommending the bigger Tidepool II.
